Alright, so I've never liked the term 'guru' or 'beauty guru' when used to describe a fashion/beauty vlogger, unless of course they're professionally a makeup artist or designer. However, since around the start of December, I've almost grown obsessed with watching Youtube fashion vlogs. Now, a fashion vlog is a place where bloggers document fashion and makeup hauls, beauty and fashion tips and beauty routines. It's almost inexplicable as to why I've become interested in watching so many, as I don't really like being instructed or, really, told what to do. Nevertheless, since I found sototallyvlog on Youtube, I've been watching just about non-stop.
I don't know whether it's because I'm interested in the tips, or whether I just like seeing what other people have - but it's made me want to start my own. I did consider it, until I realised I neither have enough money to do hauls nor am I photogenic. The thing that strikes me most is how many there are but, as with everything, I was more drawn by the vloggers of London as opposed to those of the US and in my tireless search (it wasn't really much of a search), I found sototallyvlog, beautycrush and shirleybeniang to be my utmost favourites. I mean, I literally would watch their videos for hours. I'm inexplicably fascinated by them.
The above is a sototallyvlog video, whose Tumblr is Fashion Filth. I just feel like I can relate to the London bloggers to a greater extent, and London bloggers have a more unique style and approach, which I enjoy above the likes of andreaschoice and the dubious allthatglitters21. Although, check them all out.
This is very unlike me, as I don't really praise or promote people uneccessarily, but I'm really struck about how enamoured I've become with viewing all these fashion vlogs, and how they've actually caused me to be more interested in beauty (not neccessarily fashion) than I already was. It actually made me go out and buy my very first M.A.C product recently, which I'll be showing/writing a bit about in an upcoming post.I've decided to do a mini haul of my own in the aforementioned post. You can relax though, there won't be any videos.
I've taken down my preview, as I concluded that it looked tacky - and, I've also concluded that is is unlikely I'll put up my 'hauls' any time soon.
Although, still debating as to whether I should do some photo how-to's in the future.
